Christchurch Boat Show Record Crowd

A record 11,000 visitors attended the 74 exhibits at the recent Christchurch Boat Show at the Westpac Centre showcasing the $NZ1.3 billion boating industry.

New Zealand is the second largest sailing super yacht producer in the world, exporting $NZ525 million worth of boats a year.

The fast expanding marine industry employs about 8,000 people and 1300 in companies producing boats and supplying marine goods and services.

The Christchurch Boat Show, 2 - 4 July, was buzzing with expositions in the concourse and inside the centre displaying the latest boats, waterskis, fishing and boating accessories, as well as the country's first waterski simulator.

The annual event is organised by the Marine Industry Association of New Zealand, and has become the South Island mecca for boaties, fishers and water sports enthusiasts. This year several new products and watercraft were launched at the Boat Show.
