JO ROBINSON - ASSOCIATE FELLOW MIAA

CHRISTCHURCH VENUE SALES EXECUTIVE BECOMES FIRST NZ INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVE TO BE AWARDED ASSOCIATE FELLOW OF THE MEETINGS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA (MIAA)

Jo Robinson, Australia Sales Executive for venue manager NCC (NZ) Ltd, is the first New Zealander working in the industry to gain the prestigious AMIAA - Associate Fellow of the Meetings Industry Association of Australia. She is only the second Kiwi to gain that recognition; the other is Auckland academic Karen Williamson.

"This will give me more traction in the Australian market, and show my experience and credibility to that market. I'm delighted to get the recognition from a tough and challenging market and it does give me and NCC a business advantage," Jo said.

Associate Fellows must have at least three years industry experience, and fulfill a list of stringent criteria, including references from suppliers and clients.

Jo joined NCC (NZ) Ltd in 1999, shortly after the Christchurch Convention Centre and Westpac Centre for Sport & Entertainment were opened. NCC (NZ) Ltd manages these purpose-built international standard venues for the Christchurch City Council, as well the Christchurch Town Hall.

The Christchurch Convention Centre is New Zealand’s largest convention venue, catering up to 2500 delegates. Westpac Centre is the country's largest indoor arena, with a capacity seating of 8888.

Jo was New Zealand Sales Executive until last September, when she was appointed Australia Sales Executive after combining that with her NZ role for a year.
