event types:
Situated in the Christchurch Town Hall, a sophisticated permanent stage theatre with proscenium arc, comfortable tiered seating and upper gallery. Suitable for live theatre, seminars and conference plenary sessions.
John Grant for the UK magazine, Opera Now, wrote of the James Hay Theatre ..." the small (1,000 seats) wood panelled James Hay Theatre had an immediate acoustic that flattered and expanded the sound of the modest
forces involved." in his review of Canterbury Opera's June 2002 production of NORMA.
