Privately managed by Vbase Venue Management Group Ltd the Christchurch Convention Centre is New Zealand's largest capacity convention centre. This allows you to optimise your delegate yield from meetings, dining and exhibits all on one level under the same roof. Opened in 1997 and located in the central business district, it is fresh, contemporary and convenient so delegates can slip out for a few moments for that special gift or just to see a bit of the city without a long and expensive cab ride. Set on the banks of the meandering Avon River and adjacent to historical Victoria Park, delegates getting out for a breath of fresh air doesn't mean losing them for the day. Of course, our year round playable golf courses - 20 of them - might be a problem, especially for your exhibitors and their clients.

Within 1 or 2 blocks of the Centre are all of the downtown hotels, a boutique Casino, a great selection of 5 star restaurants for those concurrent private client functions and, of course, downtown shopping for Kiwi-ana or the toothbrush you forgot - again. Perfect for those free evenings. The Centre has been pre qualified by a number of the largest and most prestigious international conferences staged in New Zealand and is host to the country's largest gala balls and dinners. From 1997's Antarctic Treaty Congress to the recent international APEC meetings, the facility and services have stacked up and won awards.

InfrastructureIn 1997, Shiseido cosmetics hosted its top Australasian sales Managers' incentive gala at Maxim's of Paris. In 1998 the silver service function was held at the Christchurch Convention Centre with the Christchurch Symphony and New Zealand opera diva Dame Malvina Major. We were told it was better than Paris. They couldn't believe the price. Neither could we!

For your annual general or plenary meeting there are 2 theatres. One has 2,584 and 1,000 plush seats. The ambience is so sophisticated we have resident opera and symphony companies. Think what you can fly in this space. The main ball room is 1862m2 (18,000ft2) carpeted with those 8m ceilings and all those catwalk accessible hanging points. The hall is divisible into three separate function rooms. In addition, there are 11 break out rooms with capacity up to 550 class room style.

However, the Convention Centre facility infrastructure doesn't end with the Convention Centre. Within 10 minutes drive is an 8,000 seat arena with a 4,000m2 (40,000ft2) column free assembly hall. Home to a number of annual consumer shows it is ideal for concurrent exhibitions or trade shows with capacity for up to 350 standard sized trade show booths. It has 3,000 surrounding car parks and has been used for sport, religious rallies, gala dinners for up to 3,000 delegates and concerts by internationally recognised artists such as Neil Diamond.

When not required for your conference needs, a concert might just be perfect for a delegate's night out or an exhibitor's opportunity to host special clients in one of the 20 luxurious hospitality suites.

Major considerations that enhance your planning and justify your selection are:
