April 2006: International Inner Wheel 13th Conference
More than 1400 women from 30 countries will be arriving in Christchurch for the triennial International Inner Wheel 13th Convention, being officially opened at the Convention Centre by Her Excellency the Governor General Dame Silvia Cartwright on 4 May. The meetings will use the Convention Centre, Town Hall and Westpac Centre from 3-6 May.

March 2006: CCC Subsidiary Ownership
Vbase is now 100 percent owned by Christchurch City Council subsidiary Christchurch City Facilities Ltd (CCFL), after the recent purchase of a share parcel held by Addington Raceway Ltd.

February 2006:CEO Appointed
Vbase Venue Management Group Board Chairman Bruce Irvine has announced the appointment of Bryan Pearson as CEO for the four venues presently managed by Vbase and Jade Stadium Ltd. Mr Pearson will take up the position on 1 March 2006.

December 2005: 2005 was a milestone year for three venues
The 2005 year saw many significant achievements at the three venues, including a world ranking, profitable results, and a change in company shareholding. Retiring Executive Director Mike Kelly said it was one of the most satisfying years in his 30 year career with public venues.

December 2005:Westpac Centre makes top 10 Venues
The 8888-seat Westpac Centre in Christchurch has ranked number 10 in the world for venues under 10,000 seats for gross ticket sales for 2005 – a stunning achievement that puts the New Zealand venue right behind North American centres with far greater population hinterlands to draw on. It is the only venue outside North America inside the top ten.

November 2005:Canterbury Fashion and Collection Awards
Menswear from Off the Cuff by designer Bernadette Robinson....one of the 30 plus collections presented in a fast paced black tie event that drew an appreciative and capacity audience. Event manager Denyse Saunders (left on stage) hosted the evening. Christchurch-based designer Takaaki Sakaguchi won five Awards including the Supreme Award.

June 2005: Convention Centre in Ferndale 2005 Hospitality Awards
The Christchurch Convention Centre is a finalist in the Heinz Wattie's Outstanding Canterbury Hosptitality Venue category of the Ferndale 2005 Canterbury Hospitality Awards, and Executive Chef Andy Gibb is a finalist in the Meadow Mushrooms Outstanding Canterbury Chef category. Nominations are made by industry peers. Voting takes place in August and winners are announced at the Canterbury Hospitality Awards Dinner on 18 September.
